2011 Projects & Activities

Scholarship program
This year we received 81 applications for a scholarship for the academic year 2011-2012, a plus of nearly 20% to the previous years. This figure includes 6 recipients from last year who wished to renew their scholarship. After offering the scholarship for six years, we decided to adapt the scholarship amounts, since tuitions and the general price level are slowly on the rise. The new amounts lie between $1,100 and $2,700, depending on the specific circumstances and requirements of each applicant (as opposed to amounts between $1,000 and $2,500 before).

After a thorough and careful review of all candidates, the Foundation decided to support 6 students, with amounts ranging from $1'600 to $2'700. All students were undergraduates studying towards a bachelor's degree or a diploma. As in the previous years, the Foundation allocated several more scholarships than the 3 scholarships stated in our guidelines, since we are not yet supporting any other, larger projects besides the scholarship program. The reason for this measure is that under Swiss foundation law, charitable foundations are not allowed to build up too large financial positions in excess of their initial endowment.

Other activities
Besides the scholarship program, no other project was undertaken during the fiscal year 2011 and the Foundation did not receive any demands or requests to support a specific project or activity.
